ignition coil Moto Morini 3 1/2 1974

Post by ugo.moscato » 21 Dec 2015, 11:17

I have problems with my 1974 Morini 3 1/2 GT in starting.
I measured 153 Ohm between green wire of the ignition coil and mass wire
and as you say I must change the ignition coil itself. Can you suggest me the type/code and where I can find it?
And, is it difficolt to make such a replacement (need special tools)?
I want to point out that the motorbike is perfect after it starts.

Hello Ugo,

153 Ohm for the coil is a much too low resistance. You have to get the coil re-wound. According to the factory manual it should be 300 Ohm, but any value between 200 and 300 Ohm will be allright.
As parts go brittle (after all the bike is 40 years old), it's best to send the complete stator to a specialist.

Personally I have sent the stator to NLM Motorcycles http://www.northleicestermotorcycles.com/ in Great Brittain.
You can contact Mr. Stuart Mahew, the owner, see http://www.northleicestermotorcycles.co ... ct_us.html

Hope this helps!
