I will be renewing my tyres on the Sbarazzino (2.50 x 17 front & Rear), but before I do, I am interested in everyones opinion on what they believe is the best period tyre available on the market?
Ik zal mijn banden vernieuwen op de Sbarazzino (2.50 x 17 voor en achter), maar voordat ik dit doe, ben ik geïnteresseerd in ieders mening over wat volgens hen de beste periode is die op de markt verkrijgbaar is?

for light motorcycles almost anything will work as long as you don't compete in classic races
I have good experience with Heidenau tyres on several motorcycles, the are one of the few companies who do good quality tyres with oldschool thread patterns: https://en.reifenwerk-heidenau.com/modu ... l=5&pic=91

I have also used Heidenau tires for my Sbarazzino,
They are not to expensive, like TinTin said, they have the classic profile, and they have them in 17 " and i also believe in 2.50 and in 2.75 , which is the correct size/ width for these classics.

I agree with TinTin and Tom: Heidenau is good/excellent and not expensive. They have the classic pattern K36/1 which is very suited for your bike's rear tyre. Front would be nice to have a so-called "Rille" (German word for the rubber profile lenghtwise), for instance like on this set:

Not sure if you can find a set like that in your size. Previously we had Theofried Jeckel, a German tyre specialist at any classic swapmeet with any classic motorbike tyre. I believe he has stopped (retired?), as his website has been down for several months.
Unfortunately not many other premium brands sell tyres for classic bikes, or you have to find Asian imitation on-line.
(BTW: both Heidenau and Pirelli motorcycle tyres are owned by Metzeler, a premium German motorcycle tyre factory).

It seems to be difficult to find a matching set, as 2.50-17 (these days) is an odd size. However I found this Kenda set in a Dutch moped shop:

with the Kenda Lijn K202 (front) for €21,90 and rear Kenda Semi K208 at €17,95. I have heard of Kenda before, but cannot judge the quality.

Thanks guys, this is really useful information for me to consider.
I have seen these on eBay, I have never heard of them and I'm not sure if they are any good as they are only £38 for the pair
but they certainly look right for the bike.

Yes, just perfect! Well done! Such a set I meant. I don't think the brand is too important, as the rubber material will be better anyway than the bike came with in the lates '50s or early '60s. Also the Sbarazzino is a very light bike and you won't race on the circuit with it
Don't forget to also get brandnew tubes and also the rubber "tape" you put around the rim (between rim and tube).

If I was to do the Moto giro would you use a better tyre or would something more traditional be ok?

This set is perfect for the Moto Giro! But do realise the first 100km's the tyres are new and they won't have the grip yet which they develop after those first 100km's.

Is that the Moto Giro of Moto Club Terni? I have heard enthousiast reactions of participants. Good luck ofcourse (you'll need it, especially for the "specials" at the end of the daytrips).
(Have not done it myself, but did join Milano-Taranto in 2007 & 2012, see the website).

Yes it is the one you mention. The Sbarazzino qualifies for entry so once I finish my bike I will look at entering it with a couple of friends. One of them has a Gilera Guibileo 98 which also qualifies and the other one is still looking for an old motorcycle to work on.
The priority for now is to get this bike finished, hopefully before the summer ends
